NEW YORK — The rainy season rolls on.
The playoff opener between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees was suspended because of rain in the second inning Friday night, wiping out the ace of each pitching staff for a few days.
Before we get to the 2011 MLB playoff schedule, let’s just recap real quick. The final night of the season was unbelievable! Down 7-6 to the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth, Rays pinch-hitter Dan Johnson jacked a game-tying home run and sent the game into extra innings. Later in the evening after a long rain delay, Baltimore stunned the Red Sox in the bottom of the ninth and won on a walk-off hit by Robert Andino. Just three minutes after that, third baseman Evan Longoria hit a walk-off home run down the third base line to send Tampa Bay to the postseason. Oh, and the Braves completed their colossal collapse too.
Ok… so let’s get to the schedule shall we? (Everything is subject to change)
FIRST ROUND
There are 12 players in this week’s Tour Championship, the final leg of the PGA Tour Playoffs, who haven’t won on the PGA Tour this year. Only one, St. Simons Island, Ga., resident Matt Kuchar, has the mathematical chance of winning the FedEx Cup title without winning this week at East Lake.
While Yahoo!'s fantasy golf game will be coming to a close with the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in two weeks, salary leaguers and dynasty gamers are taking this week off as an opportunity to recharge for what is always a busy last four months of the year.
