By Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM ORLANDO — So here’s the deal. Ernie Els needs to finish solo third or better on Sunday at Bay Hill to have a chance to move into the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking. And if he does, Els gets the invite to the Masters he’s been chasing for [...]
VIEQUES, PR — Getting just one dollar of public funding makes a news organization “fair game” for attacks and NPR should be weaned off public funding eventually says Vivian Schiller the former CEO of NPR whose tenure was ended over a political controversy.
Another flash point for NPR is the money raised by member stations during pledge drives which empowers many contributors which she likens to members of a “co-op” she tells interviewer Jason Pontin, editor in chief of MIT’s Technology Review, on stage at the Beet.TV Executive Retreat last weekend.
By Larry Dorman, PGATOUR.COM ORLANDO, Fla. – Even before Phil Mickelson finished low amateur in his first trip to the Augusta National Golf Club for the 1991 Masters, he already was being favorably compared to Arnold Palmer. Like Palmer, he had won the U.S. Amateur Championship, and had even gone the King one better by [...]
With Kuwait allied with the United States and working more closely with Iran’s long-time rivals in Riyadh, it’s unlikely there will be any brotherly love in the Persian Gulf anytime soon.

He's no longer the No. 1 golfer in the world, but there's no question that the sport of golf still revolves around Tiger Woods. And Woods remains a key player in the video game world, as well.
Taking up the game of golf can bring you many rewards, help you with networking, and get you outside in the sun more often. If you plan to play golf this summer, you might need some golf tips for beginners to give you a good start. Not all golf instructors work well with beginners, but some specialize in this area.
The only part of golf that really varies from one play to another is putting. This part of the game allows players to use different lengths of putters, different styles, different stances, and doesn't involve nearly as many fundamentals as the full swing or even a simple chip shot. There isn't a wrong or right way, but some golf putting tips can still help.
When a golfer goes to the range they tend to hear chatter from other golfers, instructors giving lessons, or just noise that can distract them. Sometimes they hear a tip and think about applying it to their game, when it doesn't fit at all. The entire reason I am writing this article and giving you my golf instruction tips stems from these things we all hear at the range.
Though you wouldn’t know it from NBC’s odd scheduling of “Bent” (they’re burning off airing all six episodes in just three weeks, with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday nights starting Wed., Mar. 21, 9 and 9:30 p.m. ET) and sad lack of promotion (I’ve seen two billboards in L.A., and both went up this week), the new comedy offering is one of their strongest.
“Bent” stars Amanda Peetas Alex, the good girl and a busy working single mom, and David Walton as Pete, the bad boy with charm who becomes her contractor. They’re practically living under the same roof — along with Alex’s daughter Charlie (Joey King), sister Screwsie (Margo Harshman), Pete’s dad Walt (Jeffrey Tambor) and his ragtag crew (including JB Smoove and Jesse Plemons) — and there’s instant chemistry.
“I’m so glad!,” Peet said when I told her I love the show, before launching into her own reasons for returning to TV, naming the costar that she can’t stop laughing at and talking about her most “cringe-y” moment in the show’s first season. She also talked about old “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” pals, her own must-see TV and how her executive producer husband has become like her druglord, feeding her bits of his hit HBO series “Game of Thrones,” which she says she’s “like a coke addict for.”

Jeff Rude: Tiger Woods seems to be healthy. And his ball-striking is impressive. It will be the work he does on the greens that will allow him to win over the next few weeks.

Tiger Woods seems to be healthy, but his game struggled a bit on Tuesday on Day 2 at the Tavistock Cup, settling for an even-par round during singles action. Round 2 recap
Walking is a great exercise and with a push golf cart, you can get better exercise on the course. It makes quite a bit of sense to walk while on the course, but this doesn't mean you have to carry your clubs. This is a simple way to enjoy the game and get good exercise. Some say that walking with a push cart is not all that good for exercise, but I beg to differ.
One of the most important parts of golf is managing the course properly. This is something that beginners and even the best professional golfers need. If you know the distance you are from the hole, the proper club to choose, and how you should hit the shot, it will make a huge difference. Another thing many golfers don't understand, but should, is how to play in bad weather conditions when out on the course.
