Yani Tseng is starting to draw comparisons with Tiger Woods when he was at his absolute best. Coming off a year in which she won 12 times around the world, Tseng started a new season by winning three of the opening five tournaments on the LPGA Tour schedule. In the other two, she missed a playoff by two shots in Australia and one shot in Singapore.

SEOUL, South Korea — Conceding strained ties, President Barack Obama on Tuesday welcomed Pakistan’s review of its relationship with the United States, saying it was important for the two countries to get their partnership right.
Obama spoke alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani before the two men held private talks. The meeting came amid heightened tensions between their countries following a series of incidents that have marred trust.

DAMASCUS — Syria’s state-run news agency says President Bashar Assad has traveled to the country’s Baba Amr neighborhood, a former rebel stronghold.
Baba Amr was the site of a monthlong siege by government forces who battled rebel fighters before driving them out. Hundreds of people were killed in the fighting there.
I’m here not to gawk at Hotel Lucia’s art, though I certainly did, but for the rare opportunity to take in a Mark Rothko retrospective at the Portland Art Museum.

ATLANTIC, Va. — After several delays, NASA has launched five rockets from Virginia that are part of a study of the jet stream.

Before Kris Fulton got his job managing a high-end coffee shop in Baltimore’s Harbor East neighborhood, he was thinking of moving away, maybe to Philadelphia, maybe to New York. Somewhere that had a scene. Somewhere that was filled with creative, entrepreneurial young people. Somewhere that might give him a reason to stay.
Then, right when he was getting ready to hang up his apron for good, he got a call. A cafe kingpin named Craig Min was bringing his artfully roasted coffee to Baltimore and he needed someone to manage his shop, LAMILL, which was set to open at the new Four Seasons Baltimore.
Kris decided to stay.
