PROBLEM: Hitting behind the ball or high on the ball when chipping.

This is caused by trying to get the ball in the air by hitting up on it instead of down.

The upward motion results in the clubhead passing the hands before impact.

This bottoms the club out before it reaches the ball, resulting in either a fat or a thin shot.

To correct this problem, keep your hands ahead of the clubhead at address and through impact.

Don’t flip your right wrist.

Most of the time, scooping is caused by letting the clubhead pass the hands coming into impact. To fix this you need to keep a flat left wrist (right handed golfer) through impact. Start with small shots trying to hit them low and work up from there. Eric Wilson – PGA Master Pro, Keiser University College of Golf
